Part of the Singapore LEI knowledge hub — back to the Singapore pillar.
MiFIR LEI Requirements for Singapore Entities become relevant when a Singapore legal entity trades through an EU investment firm and the transaction falls under MiFIR reporting. The EU firm uses the entity's LEI in its transaction report, while Singapore's domestic derivatives regime remains the MAS Securities and Futures (Reporting of Derivatives Contracts) Regulations.
A Singapore entity dealing with an EU investment firm may be identified by its LEI in that firm's MiFIR transaction report. Domestically, Singapore reporting runs under the MAS Securities and Futures (Reporting of Derivative Contracts) Regulations, supervised by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
The LEI is global. The same code an EU firm reports under MiFIR is the one you maintain for your own jurisdiction.
If your LEI is invalid, the EU firm's MiFIR report can fail — and they may decline to trade with you.
Keep your LEI current so EU-facing transactions are reported cleanly.

Not domestically — but an EU counterparty reports your LEI under MiFIR when you trade with them.
No. The LEI is global. A Singapore legal entity uses the same 20-character LEI when it needs to be identified under MiFIR or another LEI-based framework.
The EU firm's MiFIR report can be rejected.
Where the service would trigger MiFIR transaction reporting and the Singapore client is eligible for an LEI, the investment firm must obtain the client's LEI before providing that service.
