A Lapsed LEI is an existing LEI record that was not renewed and revalidated by its planned renewal date. It does not mean that the legal entity is inactive, and the same 20-character LEI remains assigned to the entity. Renew the record, review the legal-entity information and complete validation to return it to current status.
Lapsed means that the LEI record was not renewed by its Next Renewal Date and its reference data has not been revalidated within the planned interval. The legal entity may still be active. The LEI code is not deleted and does not need to be replaced with a new number.
Assign an internal owner for the LEI, record its Next Renewal Date and begin renewal before an important onboarding, transaction or reporting deadline. Update the record whenever the entity’s legal name, address, registry information or parent relationships change.
